History of the Astronomical Society of Harrisburg:
The Fourth Meeting - March 7 1955
By Jack Betz & Bob King
Note: There appears to be a discrepancy between the number of members indicated and the names recorded This difference could result from those actually joining the initial "Association " and those carried into or joining ASH at or after the meeting of March 7, 1955. In any event, the month in which the dues were paid is considered to be the time the member joined. One error resulting from this change is that Mr. Clair Row who joined ASH was erroneously listed as Mr. Charles Row attending the "Association" meetings. We regret any errors made from our failure to properly interpret minutes, notes and reports.
The fourth meeting was called to order by the newly elected president, Mr. John Groome. The minutes of the March meeting were presented in full detail and approved without correction. (A remarkable feat, seeing all that was accomplished at that meeting which founded and provided for the continued operation of the Society. It should be noted that the annual dues were $6.00 and included a subscription to Sky & Telescope).
A communication from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster inviting the Society to visit their observing facilities was presented. Dr. Markley moved that the visit occur on May 23, 1955, and such was accepted. George Schriver was named Chairman of the event and he was requested to make necessary arrangements.
A public observing session was scheduled for April 20, 1955 at the Paxtang recreational field. All members were requested to attend. Telescopes to be provided by those having such portable instruments.

At this meeting it was announced that Mr. Naylor's investigations for joining the Astronomical League resulted in the acceptance of ASH as a League member. This action was approved by the members.
